The Effect of the Covid-19 Pandemic and American Elections on Trends in the Energy Sector in the United States

Kyle H. Hidalgo
Prof. Charles Boughton, Faculty Mentor

Given the drastic effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and the election of Joe Biden to the presidency of the U.S., this paper will analyze the impact on the energy sector and on consumption patterns within America. Clearly, there has been a huge push towards work from home initiatives and Covid-safe business operations as a result of the pandemic, as well as support for cleaner energy from an increasingly democratic federal government. Thus, this paper will analyze the effects that these trends have had on energy and determine trends that appear to be taking place, as well as potential future developments in response to these factors.
