Democratic Party’s Reaction To 2016 and How It Can Rebuild itself Through Proper Crisis Management

Hien T. Nguyen
Dr. Michelle Kleine and Prof. Don Krause, Faculty Mentors

The recent loss of Hillary Clinton in the Presidential Election has led to a major crisis for the Democratic Party. The focus should now turn to how the Democrats can resolve the crisis and rebuild the party. This paper will apply Lukaszewski (2016)’s framework of crisis management to the turmoil resulting from the aftermath of the Democratic Party’s Presidential loss. Specifically, the paper will review Lukaszewski’s framework and apply it to historical examples such as Johnson & Johnson, BP, Exxon, and Watergate.  The framework will then be applied to the Democratic Party’s responses to its party’s recent Presidential loss and how the theory can offer insights to recover from this crisis.
