Northeast Missouri is home to an abundant number of organizations, families, and communities working for change from the bottom up. Some promote sound environmental stewardship, others workers rights, and still more poverty alleviation, but all hold in common their desire for a more just world that treats both the land and people with respect. Unfortunately, these entities are not always aware of each other. They therefore miss out on opportunities to collaborate with hundreds of like-minded folk to make important changes. The NEMO Action and Compassion Team (NEMO ACT) is a grassroots solution to this problem. It will be a coalition of Truman and community change-makers, and its monthly meetings will provide an outlet for collaboration and community-building, fulfilling a need that has long been felt by many Northeast Missouri activists.
