Experimentally Combining Alternative and Traditional Photographic Processes
Lona D. Moody
Prof. Priya S. Kambli, Faculty Mentor
Film photography is a richly historic process, but as momentum carries us further into the digital age, it becomes more apparent that that this traditional process is slowly dying. I feel it is essential that this art form, which is still valid and overflowing with possibilities, be not only preserved but rejuvenated from its growing neglect. It is my intention with this body of work to enliven the traditional elements of photography by combining them with newer and alternative elements: bringing the two worlds together to be enriched by one another. It is crucially important to continue using traditional processes because of the history that they come from and represent. I feel compelled as an artist to work with these media together and create something cohesive and unified from them and contribute to bringing vibrancy back into the field.
