Casa Nahual, Bed & Breakfast
Rocio D. Hopson
Prof. Matthew Derezinksi, Faculty Mentor

After two and a half years of experiencing the world of Visual Communications, the time came to put into practice all the skills I had obtained through many rigorous courses. The objective for my Senior Capstone project was to create and market a company. Because I love bed and breakfasts and I am from the country of Guatemala, I chose to create the Casa Nahual Bed and Breakfast, set in the beautiful colonial town of Antigua Guatemala. The Casa Nahual Bed & Breakfast project presents the complete process of developing and branding a company. This included researching the market and demographics as well as creating marketing materials such as stationary sets, newspaper and magazine ads, posters, merchandise, labels and packaging. The goal was to create something the audience would see as an authentic and professional business. This was an intensely gratifying experience, and my capstone project, gave me a better understanding of what it takes to be a successful graphic designer.
