The Hunger Games : A Blessing or a Curse?
Molly A. Turner
Dr. Hena Ahmad, Faculty Mentor

Since 2008, The Hunger Games has been praised for being a piece of enjoyable young adult literature. However, upon reading these same works by science fiction author Suzanne Collins, I found myself entangled in a more intense set of emotions throughout the speculative fiction. Suzanne Collins set out to provide readers with an adventure which over 23.5 million people would experience worldwide. For my one account, this adventure was not pleasant. The Hunger Games has left me with a greater awareness for my daily circumstances, good or bad. With this newly found further insight, I now have developed deeper fears and appreciation for the things surrounding me and the thoughts that circulate within my head. In my creative essay, I weigh the situations and emotions I have experienced with the effect The Hunger Games has cemented on me. I battle the question, Is this trilogy a blessing or a curse?
