"Hate Poem": Experimenting with the Traditional Form of the Love Poem

After reading Mathias Svalina's collection of poems called Destruction Myth, a book of many poems entitled "Creation Myth" followed by a "Destruction Myth" at the end, I was struck by his ability to take the familiar topic of creation stories and make them seem fresh and vibrant. In the wake of reading Svalina, I propose to compose a collection of poems which experiment with another traditional, familiar poetic form: the love poem. My project will link this familiar form with a wide variety of fields and disciplines to explore the rich possibilities still present in the love poem, a form which has long been a constant part of the poetic tradition.
