Current Methods of Botnet Detection and Their Existing Weaknesses
Nick G. Spear* and Garrett R. Yord
Dr. Don Bindner, Faculty Mentor

Botnets ( networks of infected computers used for malicious purposes ) are posing an increasingly significant threat to online security and privacy. Code is becoming more readily available on the Internet, often even including step-by-step tutorials for the layman. Numerous botnet detection methods, using many different techniques, have been proposed, though all willingly acknowledge weak points in their systems. This paper looks to aggregate the ideas and concepts proposed for detection into one place, and explore existing weaknesses.
