A Cross-Cultural Study in Differences in Romantic Attitudes Between American and Albanian Young Adults
Eneda Hoxha
Dr. Mark Hatala, Faculty Mentor
Cross cultural differences in romantic attitudes are often taken for granted and accepted. However, very little research has been conducted to clearly state how much and how different Europeans and Americans are in the way they love. Two hundred American and European young adults participated in a cross cultural research to measure differences in romantic attitudes between cultures. Results indicated that Americans are more romantic than Europeans in all five aspects of romantic attitudes. In addition to that Americans rated higher in statements that showed verbal expression of love (p<.05), whereas Albanians rated higher on statements that showed behavioral expression of love (p<.05).
