The American Red Cross trained members of the Health Science Honorary Fraternity Eta Sigma Gamma as Hispanic HIV/AIDS educators in order to teach HIV/AIDS prevention workshops. In order to gain a better understanding of the Hispanic population, the Gammans were further trained in Hispanic cultural competency. The program was designed to build skills and motivate participants to change behaviors that will help to reduce their risk of HIV infection by increasing positive communication and by developing better decision making skills.
