"A Cremation for Kansas" and Other Poems

This is a collection of poems written by Michael Derby, an English major, who has completed four creative writing courses through English 504: Advanced Creative Writing. Many of the poems have been workshopped repeatedly and those will be complimented by newer pieces which have been revised with consideration to the advice of faculty mentor, Professor Mark Spitzer. The poems’ tone and mood span a broad range while coalescing into a unique worldview. The content, similarly, sees shifts from strict realism to the abstract or even absurd. The presentation will be styled after a poetry reading, to be accompanied by a brief analysis of process, idea, content or technique as fitting with the individual poems.
