Adam Barker*, Elizabeth G. Chang, Will Schatz, and Samuel Tillman
Dr. Brian X. Kubin, Faculty Mentor

This project is an exploration of French impressionism in music and the unique structural and harmonic components of Maurice Ravel’s String Quartet in F major. We will briefly discuss Ravel’s life and impressionism in music along with how our musical study has influenced our playing and preparation of this work. We will then demonstrate some of Ravel’s impressionist compositional techniques and perform the fourth movement of the quartet.
