Common lists of high stress jobs often include teaching. High stress levels and attrition rates plague the profession resulting in both decreased teacher performance of those working, as well as decreases in number of quality teachers as they succumb to burnout. Current research suggests teachers utilize self-care practices such as working less, resuming hobbies, and maintaining health. However, self-care requires time, one of the most limited and valuable resources. One method of creating time for teacher self-care may be becoming efficient workers who demonstrate excellence in time-management skills. This qualitative self-study employs inductive analysis to appraise various time-management strategies in the educational context for capacity to create time for teacher self-care amidst school days full of lessons, planning, grading, classroom management, and the general competence needed to care for a child’s mind.
