Anti-Prohibitionettes: Women Against Prohibition and Fighting for Reform

This historical study analyzes the time period during Prohibition when movements working for repeal were being created. The stereotype is that the entire female gender was in favor of, and in fact created Prohibition; however, one of the major movements to repeal Prohibition was created by and for women. WONPR, the Womens Organization for National Prohibition Reform, was a created in the 1929, with the purpose to have the 18th amendment repealed. The reasons for their position reveal interesting things about American society at the time. If not for these women prohibition could have been maintained for a longer period.
