Peter M. Guirguis*, Nicole L. Stevens, and Stellina M. Aubuchon
Dr. Janice Clark Young, Faculty Mentor
The purpose of this study is to analyze the University Health Benefits Survey from 2006 to improve the 2007 Benefits Survey at Truman State University and increase faculty and staff knowledge of the University benefits available here at Truman. The majority of respondents from the 2006 survey were between ages 51-65, primarily female, and staff members were generally younger than faculty. Of the total faculty and staff employed last year, only 57% and 54% percent responded, respectively. Of faculty and staff that responded (n=425), 83% only visited their health care provider 0-6 times over the course of the year. Since monthly insurance premiums rise annually, employees need to be more proactive in increasing healthy behavior choices. Results of this study will help increase faculty and staff knowledge of the University benefits offered here at Truman.
