Humor in A Midsummer Night's Dream
Madison E. Thornburg
Dr. Hena Ahmad, Faculty Mentor

By using many different techniques to add humor to his play, Shakespeare was able to add humor that the higher class would be able to understand as well as the lower classes. In this paper I will talk about the different ways he wrote to add humor like satiric language, puns, irony and metaphors in his play A Midsummer Night's Dream. Along with different techniques he would also used different characters in his plays to become more of a comedy -like the mischievous Puck and the overly confident Bottom. I will also talk about what techniques were used to target which social class.
