The Art of Sleep
Tiffany D. Braun
Prof. Priya S. Kambli, Faculty Mentor

Sleep is a basic and universal need, yet it is so personal and unique to every individual. Seeing someone sleep is like learning an intimate secret about them. I have attempted to document sleep using cyanotypes - huge, bed-sized cyanotypes on actual bed linens. Each of my photographs were taken overnight, and exposed between 6 and 8 hours, based on the subject's actual sleep cycle. The various shades of blue reflect the amount of time the subject's body remained over any area of the bed, visually depicting how much they move during the course of their sleep.
