Mental Health of Students and Attitudes About University Counseling Services at Truman State University
Emily M. Leddin
Dr. Troy D. Paino, Faculty Mentor

A survey regarding the mental health and attitudes towards University Counseling Services at Truman State University was distributed to students at Truman. Seventy-nine percent of survey respondents selected that they had a self- or clinical diagnosis of at least one mental illness. Forty-seven percent of respondents also indicated that their average wait times for non-emergency appointments at University Counseling Services were over 13 days. Based on survey data, it is evident that adjustments to the mental health services offered on campus need to be made.
