Breeding Eugenics in the United States Christopher P. Williams Dr. Martha L. Rose, Faculty Mentor Eugenics was a branch of scientific study based on the breeding crops and animals that encompassed many phenomena, which in retrospect are ethically controversial. The research performed in this study included analyzing articles, speeches, and photographs to reveal attitudes of the general American public towards the eugenics movement. The purpose of this research was to examine the scientific rationalizations that led to propagation and influence of the eugenics movement into nearly all aspects of American life. This presentation focuses on the growth in popularity of the eugenics movement through propaganda in flyers and film and institutionalization in the United States higher education system
