Case Study of Sustainability and Business
Brittany Engle
Dr. Scott Alberts and Dr. Datha Damron-Martinez, Faculty Mentors
Sustainability has become a hot topic in business. Many believe that becoming environmentally and socially sustainable is nothing more than an expensive fad, while others have found empirical evidence to suggest the opposite. By investing to make goods and services more socially responsible, businesses are able see positive fiscal results. This presentation studies the environmental and social impact of Delta Sigma Pi: Iota Nu's Fall 2012 Initiation Party. All product consumption is analyzed within the current, available frame work and is then researched in order to determine a less socially degrading alternative. Specified alternatives will then be implemented during the Spring 2013 Initiation Party and the concluding results will be analyzed. If results from the initial study conclude that these alternatives are not economically feasible, then additional work will be conducted to determine the reason.
