Schumann's Sonata for Piano and Violin in A Minor, Op. 105

Schumann's Sonata in A Minor, written in 1851, displays a passionate exchange between the piano and violin. The first movement, "Mit leidenschaftlichem Ausdruck", is in sonata form and begins with the theme in the violin and becomes a canonic exchange between the violin and piano. The second movement, "Allegretto", is in rondo form and sets a more brisk pace than would be expected. The final movement, "Lebhaft", opens with a theme of sixteenth notes that are developed throughout the movement.
