Dr. Marc Rice, Faculty Mentor
Remembering Political Protest: You Can Do It Too! is an energetic and engaging film which explores public activism over the last century in North America. Written and directed by Matt Szewczyk and featuring commentary by students from Marc Rice's class on Music and Political Protest, the film covers topics ranging from women's suffrage protests in the 1920s to the 1999 World Trade Organization demonstrations in Seattle. Remembering Political Protest: You Can Do It Too! sets forth to achieve an ambitious goal: to educate and inspire the youth of today to carry on the tradition of political protest which has so greatly defined the spirit of modern democracy. The film is a culmination of interdisciplinary student research drawing from the use of creative composition, history, music, and computer technology to deliver its final presentation.
