Colleen T. Farquhar
Prof. Tim AuBuchon, Faculty Mentor

"Stella by Starlight" was written in 1944 by Victor Young and Ned Washington for the film "The Uninvited" and has become an essential part of the jazz repertoire. It is traditionally played as a ballad or a medium-tempo swing tune. This presentation will include a performance of transcribed solos from the legendary saxophonists Charlie Parker, Cannonball Adderley, and Lee Konitz. An analysis of harmonic vocabulary and stylistic features will be available during the presentation.
